Former India player Aakash Chopra has pointed out that although Pakistan players are banned from the Indian Premier League, they will be soon playing for the teams owned by the owners from the sub-continent nation.
He was talking about the franchises in the upcoming UAE and CSA T20 leagues. All six teams in South Africa have been purchased by IPL franchise owners.
The owners of Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) have also bought teams in the UAE league – International League T20 (ILT20).
“Pakistan players are banned in IPL but they will play in other global leagues. Since Indian franchise owners have bought teams in other leagues, they will invest on Pakistan cricketers as well. So Pakistani players are soon going to play for the Indian teams.”
Pakistan players featured in the inaugural IPL edition in 2008 but were banned from the next season onwards following the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2009.
